But we survived albeit with cybernetic enhancements - cyberware.  Modern man is stronger, smarter, and faster.

Yes, we survived, however, so did the companies and corporations and they took the leadership left by the chaos.

Murders are usually a way of life now.  However, the Stellar Alliance board (Tao Kinjo, Samantha Shvedov, Zian Sakamoto, Kimberly Yamasaki) could see no alternative but to involve the Vigilance Comitee Conglomorate.  The deaths in the same square mile of Stellar Alliance territory will not sit well with their investors.
